Fanta Konate

Singer and dancer Fanta K. is a Guinean native, daughter of the Djembefolá Master Famoudou K. Fanta’s family is one of the most evocative in the long-established art of Malinke, which originated from the Hamana region, within in the savannas of Guinea. This was also where the djembe drum and the Griots music were born.
The repertoire chosen for Fanta’s first album is based on traditions of her village. These have been preserved since the era of the Mali Empire (XIII Century). At the shows, Troupe Djembedom, who in addition uses multimedia resources to properly set the environment and each song’s particular theme, joins her onstage. Listening and watching a presentation by Fanta Konatê means embarking on a journey to the cultural roots of Guinea.
