Shows
Fanta Konatê portrays the musicalness of her family’s Malinkê traditions in the show “A Voz das Aldeias” (The Voice of the Villages). The tone height, volume elevation, and intensity of her singing are characteristic of the savanas of Hamaná, crest of Guinea. The melodious tone stands out in mass gatherings of cultural celebrations. The elevation is high pitched and the intensity powerful like that of the instruments being played.
The dances carried out by Fanta and her sister Fadima Konatê express the joy and vitality of a populace that, from the time period of the Mali Empire, comes together for innumerable festivities, efforts, and enactment rituals. “A Voz das Aldeias” (The Voice of the Villages) compiles the different phases of the Malinkê individual, from nativity to adulthood approaching fertility, baptism, circumcision work in the grassland, marriage, etc.
